Changwook Jeong is an associate professor in the graduate school of semiconductor materials and devices engineering and in the department of material science and engineering at the Ulsan National Institute of Science and Technology (UNIST).
He is interested in working at the junction between physical modeling and machine learning to explore new ideas for emerging materials and devices for many applications such as electronic, energy conversion, optoelectronic, etc., for the next 20~30 years.
He got his undergraduate and master degrees in Material Science and Engineering (1999/2001) at Seoul National University and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering (2012) at Purdue University.
Before joining UNIST in 2022, he had been an research engineeer and project leader with ~15 years of experience at Samsung Electroincs. There, he had investigated physics and technology of advanced nanoelectronic devices such as magnetic memory, phase change memory, and logic device, and has recently explored bridging physical modeling and machine learning to fully exploit their combined strengths to address many semiconductor engineering problems with competing multi-objectives and of such large scale and complexity in semiconductor industry.
